Frequently asked

Do I need StatDataViewer?

Yes. The extension is a bridge; StatDataViewer is the other end of it. Without the desktop app running on the same computer, the extension does nothing useful. Get it at statdataviewer.com.

Which SAS Studio versions work?

SAS Studio 4.x, 5.x, and SAS OnDemand for Academics. If your deployment behaves differently, the options page can export a diagnostic capture that helps us adapt the bridge — send it along with your email.

Does my data leave my computer?

No. The extension talks only to the SAS Studio host you added (using your existing logged-in session) and to StatDataViewer over 127.0.0.1. No remote servers, no analytics, no tracking. Read the privacy policy.

How do I add my SAS Studio host?

Open the extension's options page, add the host's URL, and Chrome will ask you to grant access to that host — and only that host. Reload your SAS Studio tab afterwards and the status badge appears in the corner.

The badge says the viewer is offline.

Start StatDataViewer, then give it a moment — the extension reconnects automatically with backoff. If it stays offline, check that the port in the extension's settings matches the one StatDataViewer listens on (default 53210).

How do I report a bug?

Email support@helper.software with your Chrome version, extension version, SAS Studio flavor, and what you were doing when it happened. Steps to reproduce make our day.
